I. Title of the Research Project

NannyCham

II. Introduction and Background

Reptiles have several specific habitat requirements. Temperature, humidity, and the amount of UV light is particularly specific for chameleons. The basic set up for a chameleon habitat is a round cage mounted temperature and humidity gauge, and reptile lights that provide T5 UVB light. These tools are read several times per day, allowing the owner to manually adjust the lights and mist the cage. The recommended replacement of the lights is every 6 months, with no regard to the UV levels. The advanced owner will add a timer to these tools to automatically turn the lights from day to nighttime light, and to mist at regular intervals. This does not, however, allow for specific timing according to the gauges, the owner still needs to provide frequent attention.

III. Project Objective Statement

Develop a system using a Raspberry PI3 to integrate controls and sensors for a chameleon habitat. This system will have the capability to generate alerts to the user via remote applications.
